Coffered Ceilings Add Pizazz to Custom Georgia Office

The next step in our custom Georgia Bulldog office was installed today.   This unique coffered ceiling is made of multiple trim pieces configured in an octagon shape and enhanced with recessed rope lighting.  In case you were wondering…we used 2″x8″ boards for the frame, and the design is composed of 8″ speed base turned upside down, base cap, 5″ crown with a 1 3/4″  reveal for rope lighting,  and clove mold on the bottom and on the ceiling inside the octagon.  The design is finished off with base cap octagon medallions.  The trim pieces will be painted black and the ceiling will be a bold red to continue the Georgia Bulldog theme.
With trim work, the sky is really the limit with the design we can create for your space.  Pizazz Floors specializes in custom design work, so if you can dream it, we can make it a reality.  Check back for more updates as we complete this project, or call us at 678-687-8693 for more information on coffered ceilings and other trim work.

Pizazz Completes Border on Custom Georgia Bulldog Hardwood Floor

Pizazz Floors completed the second phase of a custom Georgia Bulldog hardwood floor by installing an intricate border around the University of Georgia logo.  This French knot border is made of all exotic woods, including African wenge (black boards), hard maple (white boards), and blood wood (red boards).  The last step in this design process will be refinishing the floors to bring out their brilliance and luster.
Let Pizazz take your sports team devotion to the next level and design a custom collegiate or pro team logo for your home.  It’s the  perfect addition to any office, basement, bar, or “man room” and can easily be removed and taken with you if you move.
Check back for updates on this project or call 678-687-8693 to get in on the action.

Pizazz Installs Custom Georgia Bulldog Hardwood Floor

Are you the ultimate sports fan?  Then you’re gonna love this!  Pizazz Floors just completed the first phase of a custom Georgia Bulldog hardwood floor.  This 5’x3’ Georgia logo was installed into an office with pre-existing hardwood floors and is composed of all select, exotic woods.  The white boards are hard maple, the black boards are African whengee, and the red boards are blood wood.
Phase two will be adding an intricate French knot border, also using the red blood wood and the black whengee.  And the final step will be refinishing the floors to bring out their brilliance.  Whether you’re a Gator fan a Steelers fan or anything in between, Pizazz Floors can take your devotion to your favorite team to the next level.  A custom collegiate or pro team logo is perfect for any office, basement, bar, or “man room.”
But you may be thinking, what if we move?  Not everyone may like a giant Georgia logo in the middle of their floor.  No worries, you can take it with you when you go.  Your hardwood masterpiece can easily be removed and replaced with your pre-existing hardwood boards or new boards.
Check back with us for updates as we complete the project or call 678-687-8693 if you want more information!
Disclaimer:  Pizazz Floors does not support the promotion of other sports teams like the Florida Gators or Pittsburgh Steelers, but hey, we don’t discriminate.

8 Ways to Get Your Home Ready to Sell

1. Plant flowers. You’ve always heard first impressions are the most important.  Well the same holds true with your home.  Pull those weeds, trim those bushes, and plant some flowers!  Flowers can add a pop of color and make your home more appealing from the onset.
2. Limit the number of personal items you have on display. You want buyers to be able to envision themselves in your home, and too many pictures of Grandma Jean or drawings from little Johnny can make that more difficult to do.
3. Paint. A fresh coat of paint can take a drab room and make it beautiful for less than a hundred bucks.  When selling your home, try to stick with neutral, earth tones that will appeal to a wider range of buyers.
4. Make use of ambient lighting. Get rid of any fluorescent or bright lighting and replace with softer, more inviting light.  Make use of your natural light by pulling back curtains or opening blinds, and light a few candles for a calm and warm ambience.
5. Update with home improvements. This of course is a little more costly, but can really enhance your home and pay off in the long run.  The two improvements that yield the highest return on investment are granite countertops and hardwood floors.  Homebuyers see the value in these updates, and they can make your home stand out from comparable houses that are lacking.  If granite and hardwood aren’t in the budget, consider a tile backsplash or adding trim, like crown molding or a chair rail.  These can make a room look grand without even spending a grand!
6. Organize and Clean, Clean, Clean. This one is a given, but nevertheless very important.  Always make sure your home is clean and tidy before a showing, and remove any clutter.  You want potential homebuyers to see the beauty in your home, and unorganized clutter can cover that up and give buyers a sense of anxiety when viewing your home.
7. Change out any outdated light fixtures. Outdated light fixtures can make a room look and feel old and dingy.  This is an affordable and quick update that is especially important in bathrooms, where it’s hard to miss a light fixture that’s been around since the 70’s.
8. Add some indoor plants. Plants are an easy and affordable way to decorate.  They are a great way to fill space, and they add life and color to any room.

What to Expect with Hardwood Installation & Refinishing

Once you’ve decided to install or refinish a wood floor, you may wonder what will happen next. Knowing what to expect before, during, and after the work takes place will help ensure a high-quality job.
Before work begins, remove or cover all furnishings, draperies, paintings, and other items from the room. Flooring professionals typically are not insured against damages to these items, so removal will be your responsibility. For new installations, the wood will need to acclimate, which will vary from two days to two weeks.

If your floors are being sanded, finished or refinished, be prepared for some noise and disruption. Dust containment systems can minimize debris, but no system is 100% effective, so cover any items that you want to keep dust-free. When the finish is applied, you and your pets should stay off your floors until it has dried, about 8 – 12 hrs. The time required will vary depending on the type of finish used.
After the finish has dried, put felt pads on the bottoms of any furniture to minimize scratches and dents. Place scatter rugs at all entrances, avoiding those with rubber backs, which can discolor your floor. Avoid walking on your floors with cleats or high heels in disrepair.
Keep in mind that no two floor boards will be identical. Variations in appearance are completely normal. As your floor ages, some color change can occur. This also is normal, but can be minimized by limiting exposure to direct sunlight, and periodically moving furniture and rugs. Cracks are normal as well, and will appear and disappear between floor boards during seasons of high and low humidity. Generally, anything less than the width of a dime is considered normal, and will correct itself as seasons change. Flooring inspectors recommend inspecting the floor from a standing position in normal lighting to identify irregularities.
Finally, keep your wood floors looking their best by properly maintaining them. Use a cleaning product recommended for your floors (Bona Kemi Refresher) and use it regularly (every 3 months) to keep them looking beautiful for years to come.
